Upload PDF, Word (DOCX), text (TXT), or Markdown (MD) files. homie extracts the text and makes it searchable. When to use: the content lives in a document with general information — shipping and return policies, warranty terms, or documented processes. What not to upload: documents about individual products, such as product data sheets, sizing charts, manuals, or catalogs. The assistant cannot reliably attribute their content to a specific product. Product information belongs in your product source instead. How to add: in your knowledge store, open Sources → Documents, select Add and drop one or more files into the dialog. Upload transfers the files — keep the dialog open until every file has finished. Then confirm with Start processing; from that moment everything runs in the background and you can leave the page.

Processing status

After you start processing, each document appears in the document list with its status: In queue while it waits for a worker, then Processing with a single progress bar covering everything from reading the file to indexing. Once it is done, the entry turns into a regular document and the assistant can use it. If processing fails, the entry shows the reason. Use Retry to process the uploaded file again, or Remove to discard it. Canceling a running import asks for confirmation.

Limits

  • Files up to 200 MB each. There is no limit on the number of pages, the amount of text, or the number of documents processed at once — uploads are queued and worked off automatically.
  • Uploaded files count toward a total budget of 1 GB per organization; deleting documents frees it up again.
  • Scanned PDFs without a text layer cannot be read yet — the import fails with a corresponding message. Export the document with selectable text and upload it again.
  • Deleting a document also deletes the uploaded file.
