Quick answers to the most common questions about homie. Browse by topic below, or use search to jump straight to an answer.

General

homie is an AI-powered chat assistant embedded on your e-commerce store. It answers product and support questions, recommends products, and guides shoppers toward checkout — all from your storefront. Learn more in the Introduction.
homie is added with a single embed script, so it works on essentially any shop system or website where you can add a snippet of code. For the most common platforms — Shopify, Shopware, WooCommerce, Magento, and WordPress — we also provide step-by-step guides, and there’s a REST API for custom storefronts and apps. See the Installation overview.
About 10 minutes for most stores. Shopify is essentially one-click, and other platforms use a simple drop-in script. Follow the Quickstart for the full path.
homie is hosted entirely in the EU and is GDPR-compliant by default. See Privacy & Security below for details.
No. Shopify installs with one click, and other platforms only require pasting a small script — for example via Google Tag Manager. Developers can optionally use the REST API for deeper integrations.
homie understands and replies in many languages and can respond in the shopper’s own language. You can also tailor wording per assistant. See Translations.

Assistants

Yes. You can create multiple assistants in your workspace — for example one per brand, region, or use case — each with its own knowledge, tone, and appearance. See the Assistants overview.
Use the assistant’s fine-tuning instructions to set its tone, what to emphasize, and what to avoid. Clear, specific guidance produces on-brand answers. See Fine-tuning.
Use the Playground to chat with your assistant exactly as a shopper would, and refine it until the answers feel right — all before it’s installed on your store. See the Playground.
Yes. Page configuration lets you decide which pages show the widget and where proactive messages trigger. See Page configuration.
You can adjust colors, branding, and widget behavior to match your store. See Appearance and Widget behavior.

Knowledge

You can train homie on websites, files, FAQs, free text, and your product feed. Together these give the assistant the context it needs to answer accurately. See the Knowledge overview.
homie keeps your sources in sync so answers reflect your latest content. After major catalog or policy changes, review your sources to confirm everything is up to date. See Sources.
A knowledge store holds general content — websites, files, FAQs, and text. Product data is your catalog of items, prices, and availability used for recommendations. They work together. See Knowledge stores and Product data.
Usually the product data isn’t connected or fully synced, or the relevant detail isn’t in a knowledge source. Check that your product data is connected and that the information exists in your sources. See Product data.

Installation

Install the widget for your platform using the relevant guide. Most platforms only need a small script added once. Start with the Installation overview.
Shopify is the simplest path and installs with minimal setup. Follow the Shopify installation guide.
Yes. Open Integrations → Shopify, select Add store, and install the homie app in each additional store. You can manage permissions and conversion tracking separately for every store and select the matching Shopify store as each assistant’s product source. See the Shopify integration.
Yes. If you already use Google Tag Manager, you can add the homie script as a tag without editing your theme. See Google Tag Manager.
Common causes include the script not being added to every page, caching, or a content blocker. Confirm the script is present and clear your cache. For platform-specific steps, revisit your platform’s guide under the Installation overview.

Billing

homie uses plans with a monthly message quota. You pick a plan that fits your expected volume and can change it as your store grows. See Billing and Usage.
When you reach your plan’s message quota, you can upgrade to a higher plan or, where enabled, allow capped usage to keep the assistant running. Review your current consumption under Usage.
Change your plan anytime on the platform under billing settings. Upgrades take effect immediately so you get more capacity right away. See Billing.
Your organization has one homie subscription, carried by one connected Shopify store. Other connected stores do not need a separate subscription. The Billing page shows the billing store, and you can transfer billing to another connected store before disconnecting it. See Billing.
Capped usage lets the assistant keep handling conversations beyond your included quota up to a limit you control, so you avoid surprise overages while staying live. See Usage.

Privacy & Security

homie is hosted entirely in the EU. Your data and your customers’ data stay within EU infrastructure.
Yes. homie is built to be GDPR-compliant by default, with EU-only hosting and data handling designed around EU privacy requirements.
Conversations are designed to provide responses for advisory purposes and to give you analytics on what shoppers are asking. No personal data is processed in this context, and chat data is processed within the EU and in accordance with the GDPR.
Yes. You can remove content and delete your organization from the platform. See Workspace settings.
Deleting your organization is permanent and removes its assistants, knowledge, and conversation history. Export anything you need first.
Yes. The REST API is authenticated — requests use an x-api-key header. Keep your keys secret and rotate them if exposed. See Secrets and the API reference.
