# Recommendation hints

> Guide which products the assistant recommends in specific situations.

Guidance that influences which products the assistant suggests, for situation-based advice.

**When to use:** you want to promote certain products, pair complementary items, or steer recommendations in a specific situation.

**How to add:** open your knowledge store, go to **Recommendation hints** and select **Add**. Describe the customer need, the instruction for the assistant, and optionally the search terms it should use to look up matching products.

You can also capture a hint from a real conversation: in the **Playground** or a **Chat log**, use the **Add recommendation hint** action on a reply. Either way the hint appears under **Recommendation hints** in the knowledge store, where you can review, edit, or delete it.

## Validity period

You can optionally define when an entry should apply — for a prize draw, a limited-time promotion, or a notice about a service disruption.

Outside that period the assistant does not use the entry. It is not deleted: change the date at any time to reactivate it. In the overview you can filter by **Active** and **Expired**.

To pause entries immediately, select one or more of them and choose **Inactive**. They move to **Expired** and are no longer used. To restore them, open **Expired**, select the entries, and choose **Active**. Reactivating clears their previous validity period and makes them active immediately.

While in effect, time-boxed entries take **precedence** over any permanent information that contradicts them.

**Valid until** includes the selected day: "valid until 31 Dec" means the entry applies for the whole of 31 December.
